Emotional factors and academic performance, challenges of the socioemotional education of children and adolescents
Main Article Content
Abstract
The text examines the connection between emotional factors and the academic performance of children and adolescents in Colombia, highlighting the need for socio-emotional education due to the low academic performance evidenced in tests such as PISA and SABRE. Goleman's concept of "emotional illiteracy" is introduced, which points to the lack of skills to manage emotions, contributing to problems such as low performance and youth violence. In response, Law No. 2383 of 2024 has been enacted to promote socio-emotional education in schools, seeking to improve the emotional and academic well-being of students, as well as the continuous training of teachers in socio-emotional competencies.
