Proposal for the Creation of a Management Unit for Institutional Products and Services at the University of Panama

Abstract
In this research, literature on universities in the 21st century was reviewed, with the updated concept of university relevance and production and service functions; in addition to the already known teaching, extension and research.
The constitutional norms, the laws and the University Statute are reviewed where budgetary matters, the use of own funds, income generation and production and service functions are established as a new pillar of action and management at the University of Panama.
In addition, the history of linkage offices between University-Business-State existing at the University of Panama is mentioned, but insufficient to develop the industrialization, marketing and promotion of institutional or corporate products and services.
Finally, using the Technical Guide for the Creation or Reorganization of Academic or Administrative Units for the creation or reform of academic and administrative Units of the General Directorate of University Planning and Evaluation, we made a proposal for the creation of the UP Corporate Services Directorate, which It would be dedicated to increasing the competitiveness, marketing and sale of institutional or corporate products and services, its main departments would be established, including: Corporate Social Responsibility, Marketing, innovation and business promotion; In addition to an organizational chart and the basic budgetary issues for the operation of this new Corporate Services Directorate of the University of Panama, are mentioned.
