Student satisfaction with english language instruction al Dr. Alfredo Canton Institute during the COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract

This study was conducted at the Dr. Alfredo Cantón Institute and aimed to determine students' level of satisfaction with English language teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. The methodology used was quantitative, hypothetical-deductive, descriptive at a basic level. A questionnaire was administered virtually and analyzed using a Likert-type scale. The results showed that students' academic satisfaction was significantly associated to interaction, technological acceptance, and family support in the teaching-learning process. Notably, students found the methodology and resources used by teachers to be appropriate and satisfactory, and they appreciated the effective communication established with them. Most students reported that their motivation was not negatively impacted by the transition from in-person to fully virtual classes, although they expressed a preference for face-to-face instruction. Importantly, students had access to the necessary technological tools and resources to participate in virtual learning. Additionally, it is important to highlight that the majority of students had access to the necessary technological tools to engage in online instruction. Overall, the study highlights a high level of satisfaction with English language instruction during the pandemic.
