Abstract

Geometry is one of the fundamental pillars in the study of mathematics, as it encourages logical reasoning in students and helps them develop 21st-century skills.  A research project was proposed with the aim of understanding the perceptions of tenth-grade rural students on the use of educational software in learning geometry at a rural educational institution.
The methodology was an interpretive paradigm with a qualitative approach and descriptive scope of the study, which allowed for reflection on perceptions, realities, and learning in and with mathematics.
The findings reveal that rural students' learning experiences with educational software in geometry are complex, situated, and traversed by multiple tensions, between practical and formal knowledge, between rural identity and modern aspirations, between technological potential and infrastructural limitations. Therefore, it is suggested that these experiences be understood from the students' own voices.
