University teaching and technology: the impact of artificial intelligence on the learning process in times of global change

Abstract
In a highly globalized world, higher education places Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the center of attention as a response to accelerated technological advancement. Given the arrival of this tool, the educational field and civil society have shown some resistance, so much so that the normal process of achieving previously established educational and social objectives has been interrupted. This study aims to analyze the opportunities and challenges that university professors face when integrating AI into the teaching-learning process. The methodology used was a documentary review, and the quality of the sources was assessed using the JADAD framework. The results indicate a significant transformation between knowledge and the advancement of digital skills in university education, proposing AI as a complementary tool in the educational process. Therefore, the implementation of teacher training programs that promote participatory experiences and critical thinking adapted to a digital environment is suggested, without neglecting the irreplaceable value of teachers.
