Cybersecurity and sustainable self-learning as a civic responsibility for educational innovation and regional development

Abstract
The use of educational and social digital applications in recent years has increased the exposure of students and citizens to risks associated with security in cyberspace. In this context, the study analyzed the relationship between cybersecurity and sustainable self-learning as components of civic responsibility aimed at strengthening regional development in education. The general objective was to examine how training strategies in digital security and autonomous learning contributed to the development of civic and technological competencies in educational contexts. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach supported by documentary analysis and interpretative review of scientific literature, institutional reports, and conceptual frameworks related to digital education, citizenship, and regional development. The methodological process included a systematic review of scientific literature and the critical analysis of educational experiences linked to pedagogical innovation and training in digital security. The results showed that the integration of cybersecurity education with self-learning strategies strengthened civic awareness, promoted the responsible use of information technologies, and supported the development of digital capacities oriented toward regional progress. Furthermore, educational institutions played a key role in promoting innovative training practices that encouraged learning autonomy and information protection in digital environments.
