Reading comprehension in first grade students, group “A” at Mariano Matamoros Elementary School in Cuernavaca, Morelos

Abstract

This research presented aims to analyze the level of reading comprehension of students in the first grade "A" of the Mariano Matamoros elementary school, located in the city of Cuernavaca, Morelos. From a study with a quantitative approach, with an experimental (quasi-experimental) design, descriptive, with the pretest method, pedagogical implementation and posttest, which seeks to identify the areas of opportunity of students, as well as their difficulties with respect to the competence of text comprehension, this is carried out by applying the early warning system (SisAT), to a total of 25 students, (10 males and 15 females), with an average age of 7 years, where reading comprehension was evaluated, along with various cognitive skills such as: Fluency, attention and perception, diction, etc. As a result, it was obtained that at the time of applying the pre-test, students with deficiencies were identified and that after completing the pedagogical intervention, it was possible to determine in the post-test that the deficiencies were improved; concluding that the use of SisAT generated benefits in the students.
