Calm classrooms: active strategies and teaching resources to strengthen learning
Main Article Content
Abstract
Contemporary education faces the challenge of responding to increasingly diverse and complex school contexts, where learning depends not only on knowledge transmission but also on students’ emotional and social well-being. In this context, the concept of “calm classrooms” emerges as an approach aimed at creating emotionally safe, inclusive, and participatory educational environments that promote meaningful learning. This article analyzes the importance of integrating active teaching strategies and innovative didactic resources to strengthen learning processes in primary education students. Through a theoretical review of pedagogical literature, neuroeducation, and socioemotional learning, the study examines the foundations that support the creation of calm classroom environments that foster both cognitive and emotional development.
Furthermore, it describes various student-centered pedagogical strategies such as cooperative learning, gamification, project-based learning, and flipped classrooms, which encourage active participation and meaningful knowledge construction. The article also discusses the role of didactic resources and educational technologies as mediators of learning, as well as the importance of socioemotional education in developing self-regulation, empathy, and positive school coexistence. Finally, the study reflects on the role of teachers as facilitators of learning and managers of the educational climate, emphasizing the need to train educators capable of integrating innovative pedagogical strategies with humanistic approaches that contribute to the development of more inclusive, participatory, and emotionally healthy schools.
